SMILE-O-WEEN Provides Safety Tips & Healthy Smiles

1-800-DENTIST® Halloween Activity Fair Makes Learning Fun

WHAT: Halloween is every child's dream: a night to stay up later than usual, dress up as a favorite character and of course, collect lots and lots of candy. While just one night of candy consumption may not be harmful to a child's teeth, Halloween is an excellent time for kids and parents to be reminded how to protect their smiles year round. In an effort to promote healthy smiles and Halloween safety, 1-800-DENTIST and The Children's Dental Center of Greater Los Angeles (TCDC) are hosting the SMILE-O-WEEN Fun and Safety Fair for the Inglewood community.

Admission is free and each child ages 3-13 will receive a SMILE-O-WEEN Safety Kit from the 1-800-DENTIST Tooth Fairy, that includes child and adult size toothbrushes, toothpaste, oral health tips and brushing instructions, as well as information on the dental services provided for low-income dental patients at TCDC. The goal of SMILE-O-WEEN is to encourage children to learn the importance of their oral health - especially at Halloween, which marks the beginning of the sweet season when there is a constant supply of goodies.

Activity stations include:

- Dr. Frankenstein's Goo-Factory (science experiments in TCDC's lab)
- Monster Mouth Crafts & Face Painting
- Dr. Hygiene's Haunted Hideaway (teaches kids how to brush properly)
- Witch's Kitchen (learn about nutrition & healthy snacks)
- Vampire's Video Education Center (teaches kids about their mouths)
- Spending time with the 1-800-DENTIST Tooth Fairy & Suds the Purple Dragon
