Six Month Smiles®

Don't want to spend years in dental braces? Ask your dentist about Six Month Smiles®!

As an adult, you can handle just about anything -- and that includes orthodontic treatment. But many adults choose not to get dental braces because of the time commitment. The average treatment time for braces is two years, which seems like an eternity in adult terms. After all, who wants to spend years in metal braces when you're trying to focus on your career, social life or family? Fortunately, you can straighten your teeth in as little as a few months -- thanks to Six Month Smiles®, you can get a smile makeover without commiting to long-term orthodontic treatment!

Six Month Smiles is a modified orthodontic treatment that uses nearly invisible clear braces to gently straighten teeth in an average time of six months. How does it work? Six Month Smiles focuses on straightening your front teeth to improve your appearance. Once dental treatment is complete, your smile will appear straight and even, though your bite may not be affected.

The Short-Term, High-Tech Solution

The makers of Six Month Smiles consider their treatment a Short Term Ortho™ solution for patients looking to improve their smiles. Rather than traditional orthodontics, which is used to correct your bite, Six Month Smiles places emphasis on cosmetic results. With a focus on correcting the teeth that show when you smile, Six Month Smiles combines traditional treatment with the latest orthodontic technology to achieve accelerated, yet reliable, results.

Like other types of "speed braces," six-month smile treatment uses nickel titanium wires to move teeth into the correct position. Nickel titanium wire is a flexible metal alloy that returns to its original shape when exposed to heat. After it's threaded through your brackets, the Six Months Smile wire adjusts to the heat of your mouth and becomes rigid, providing light, continuous pressure to gently move your front teeth into place.

Six Month Smiles wires are tooth-colored and combined with clear brackets, making your treatment far less noticable than traditional metal braces. The Six Month Smiles wire also uses a low amount of force to move teeth more comfortably and decrease the risk of root damage. And according to their website, Six Month Smiles cost on average less than traditional dental braces, clear dental aligners or veneers.

Your Smile Makeover Options

If you're thinking of getting a smile makeover, you may want to add Six Month Smiles to your list of options. When compared to dental veneers, Six Month Smiles may be considered a less invasive, longer-lasting smile makeover solution. Six-month smile treatment doesn't require your dentist to remove tooth structure or cover up your natural smile. Veneers that are well-cared for can last up to 15 years, but orthodontic treatment can last a lifetime if you follow post-treatment guidelines. On the other hand, veneers require a shorter treatment time and cover stains and imperfections that orthodontics can't correct.

Six Month Smiles may also be used to correct more severe cases of misaligned teeth that removable dental braces can't fix. Considering that six-month smile treatment is based on conventional orthodontic techniques, results are often as predictable as traditional dental braces. Depending on each case, the cost and treatment time associated with Six Month Smiles may vary. A dental or orthodontic evaluation is needed to estimate your Six Months Smiles cost.

Is a Six-Month Smile for You?

Six Month Smiles isn't for everyone. Six Month Smiles is marketed as an adult product, emphasizing that this orthodontic treatment is available only for patients age 15 and over. Six-month smile treatment may also not be suitable for those who suffer from a major malocclussion, such as an overbite, underbite or cross bite. Teeth that are crooked or crowded in the back of your mouth may require additional orthodontic appliances, which may lengthen treatment time. And like any type of dental braces, you will still need to wear an orthodontic retainer to maintain your smile.

If your teeth are crooked or crowded in the front of your mouth, Six Month Smiles may be an excellent solution. Talk to your dentist to see which type of orthodontic treatment is best for you. If you don't have one, give us a call at 1-866-970-9853. You never know -- a six-month smile makeover could be in your future!
