Dental phobia can affect anyone, even a 6-foot-10 two-time NBA Champion with his own reality TV series. A recent episode of E’s Keeping up with the Kardashians revealed that Lamar Odom hadn’t been to the dentist in “six or seven years.” He deliberately avoided the dentist despite a variety of dental health concerns, including sensitive teeth.
Concern about the state of Odom’s dental health — especially his bad breath — spurred sister-in-law Kim Kardashian to convince the 2011 NBA Sixth Man of the Year it was time to see the dentist.
Perennial TV-favorite Kardashian did a stellar job of explaining that going to the dentist was no longer anything to be afraid of. Innovations in sedation dentistry have made most dental procedures, including root canals, virtually pain-free. Refusing to take “no” for an answer, Kardashian even went as far as to schedule Odom’s appointment with a dentist in Beverly Hills.
