The Graduate Program
The Harvard School of Dental Medicine offers graduate studies for dentists looking to practice as specialists. HSDM's specialty training programs award certificates to become an oral surgeon, orthodontist or pediatric dentist, as well as periodontists, prosthodontists and endodontists, among others. The School of Dental Medicine's graduate curriculum also offers a Master of Medical Sciences or Doctor of Medical Sciences for clinical scholars looking for careers in research, teaching, public health or public policy. Students may also decide to combine their graduate studies with other colleges at the university to obtain a Master's or PhD in one of several areas of study.
Patient Care
Within the Harvard School of Dental Medicine is the Harvard Dental Center, consisting of two well-equipped, state-of-the-art practices that offer comprehensive dental care to its patients. Harvard's Teaching Practice offers affordable care in an academic environment, where students are supervised by teachers during dental procedures. The Teaching Practice consists of 3rd and 4th year pre-doctoral students, as well as post-doctoral graduate residents and those who are training to become specialists.
The Dental Center also has a Faculty Dental Practice. This full fee-for-service dental office is located within the school but is staffed by professional faculty members. Patients of the Faculty Dental Practice receive quality care from some of the best teachers and researchers in the dentistry industry!
