Can't See the Video? Here's the Transciption:

Fred Joyal: Gingivitis is gum disease. It is the mildest form of gum disease, but can lead to more serious forms that can lead to greater health problems in your life.

Oral health is very important and the bacteria in your mouth is controlled by oral hygiene. When the oral hygiene is insufficient you will develop gingivitis and you will have red gums; instead of pink gums. They will bleed easily; they will be soft and tender. And the bacteria in your mouth will increase and your gums will gradually recede from your teeth leading to greater and greater problems.

Your oral health is completely linked to your overall health and the health of your mouth and the lack of gingivitis is very important.  Gingivitis and periodontal disease, which is the more extreme form of gum disease, can lead to issues with your heart, stroke issues and other health conditions; such as diabetes and others can be exasperated by gum disease.

It is important to see a dentist that can keep gum disease under control, eliminate it and with proper oral hygiene it should never occur.
