write about some pretty dry topics. The good news is I
also get to write fun pieces, too, like how parents can win the dreaded toothbrushing
battles and how to help kids love the dentist. The coolest part of my job is being able to take my own experiences as a mom and turn them into articles other parents might find helpful.

myself, some time with the family and some grand adventure to make
it an especially memorable day. I’m thinking a warm summer day spent at our family
cabin in Yosemite National Park — complete with a hike or bike riding and s’mores.
What 3 websites do you visit every day?
Facebook, to catch up on the latest news with my friends; Twitter, to get needed inspiration and ideas from fellow adventuring moms; and MyYahoo, for what’s happening in the world, entertainment, sports and weather.
Do you have any hidden talents?
I can throw a screwball — or at least I could when I was younger. Years of playing baseball will do that for you. Although I haven’t played catch in years, I’m hoping the screwball will come back to me like riding a bike ’cause it’s almost time for me to dust off my mitt and start teaching my son a thing or two.
What have you done that no one would guess you’d done, just by looking at you?
I’ve traveled to see polar bears in the wild — all the way to the Hudson Bay in northern Manitoba, Canada. Took three planes, a bus and a tundra buggy to get there, but it was definitely one of the coolest experiences of my life!
Name one food you could eat every day for the rest of your life.
Chocolate cake. Or anything chocolate for that matter. Except maybe chocolate-covered ants or chocolate-covered scorpions, but those aren’t allowed in my house.
What’s one place you haven’t visited that you would really like to see?
I want to see tigers in the wild and India is the place for that. I’d also love to go on an African safari, but I’m not sure which country I want to visit first. Gorillas or lions, I can’t decide.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
Flight. There are so many places I want to visit and the power of flight would be a very practical way to get me there fast. I also wouldn’t mind having a bird’s eye view of some of nature’s most impressive events.
What dental secret do you have that you won’t even tell your dentist?
My kids and I definitely enjoy dessert — and we don’t always brush right away after eating it. I realize that means the sugars from these items are wreaking havoc on our teeth, but hey, we’re only human.
Why would you recommend 1-800-DENTIST to friends and family?
Most people look to their friends and family for advice on finding a dentist. The trouble with that is that the needs and wants of your loved ones might not be the same as yours. Our operators find out exactly what you want — whether it’s Saturday hours, a kid’s dentist or a dentist who offers spa-like amenities — and match you with a great dentist who offers just that.
