Some dentists may want to further their studies in a speciality recognized by the American Dental Association. For instance, upon completion of dental school, a dentist may continue with a 2- to 3-year program to become an orthodontist or pediatric dentist, or they may join the growning ranks of endodontists and periodontists. USC recognizes the need for specialty training. The University of Southern California also has a graduate program for those looking to enter research or academic fields. MS and PhD degrees are offered in Craniofacial Biology, and students of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery program may combine their studies at the School of Dentistry with courses at the School of Medicine to obtain an MD degree. As dentistry is an ever-changing science, the USC School of Dentistry also offers online and in-house continuing education courses for established dental professionals.

USC's School of Dentistry is a learning facility, so patients must qualify for dental treatment and should set aside extra time for their appointments. As with any dental facility, the cost should be discussed prior to receiving treatment.
