Through Marquette University dental school's advanced education programs, dentists can obtain further training to achieve their desired dental specialitist certifications, whether they're interested in becoming endodontists, a prosthodontist or an orthodontist. The School of Dentistry also offers a Master of Science in Dental Biomaterials, and various continuing education courses are taught for dental professionals throughout the year.
The Marquette University School of Dentistry has several unique programs that make it different from other dental colleges:
Combined DDS/MS or DDS/PhD Degrees -- Only five per class are accepted into this very competitive program, which allows dental students to work towards graduate degrees in other areas of interest while obtaining their DDS degree.
Pre-Dental Scholars Program -- Marquette University students enrolled in this program are guaranteed acceptance to the School of Dentistry at the end of their junior year after successfully completing their undergraduate requirements. After their first year of dental school, students receive their bachelor's degree.
Extended Pre-Dental Program - Applicants who have not been accepted to the School of Dentistry yet exhibit potential may be reconsidered through this program. A limited amount of students spend a year taking pre-dental courses to improve their academic records, and successful completion of the program usually leads to acceptance to the School.
Certificate in Gerontology -- The graduate program in Gerontology prepares DDS students for the increasing needs of dental care for seniors.
