When Fred Joyal and Gary Saint Denis licensed 1-800-DENTIST in 1986, they had one goal in mind: to help people find qualified pre-screened dentists in their area, while providing member dentists with a steady stream of new patients.
It immediately became clear that they were onto something big. On their very first day of service, the two matched more than 50 people with 18 different dentists. Now, over 23 years and millions of calls later, 1-800-DENTIST has grown to become the largest patient-dentist matching service in the United States and one of the country's most recognizable brands, according to BRANDWEEK magazine. Our commercials air more than 5,000 times each month in every major media market across the nation, our logo can be seen on billboards and buses, and our website is visited by thousands of visitors each day.
As 1-800-DENTIST has grown, our parent company, Futuredontics, Inc., has expanded the services it offers dental patients and dental professionals to include custom marketing programs and dental information through brands like Dentistry.com, Patient Activator and GoAskFred.com. We've also worked hard to educate the public on the importance of oral health, and have donated time, money and support to a variety of charitable organizations, dental schools and universities.
All the while, our dedicated team has continued doing what we do best: matching patients with qualified dentists. We're contacted by more than 4 million consumers every year. We serve all 50 states, operate around the clock and boast a 98 percent patient satisfaction rate. We have thousands of member dentists, all of them carefully pre-screened by our team of experts. We employ about 250 people at our headquarters in L.A., many of whom have been happily working for us since shortly after our humble beginnings. Our company has come quite a long way, but our journey goes on, one smile at a time.
