Futuredontics, Inc., believes in charitable giving. We support many causes, both at the local and national level. Among the many to which we donate our money, time and effort, it is The Children's Dental Center, Oral Health America and The National Children's Oral Health Foundation that are most prolific in their reach to the communities who rely on them for education, care and advocacy.
We are proud to be a part of a tradition of giving back and we delight in the positive impact that our support has had on so many.
The Children’s Dental Center
The Childrens Dental Center campus was originally the home and private practice of Dr. James B. Sheets. A member and three-time president of the Inglewood Board of Education, Dr. Sheets lived directly across the street from his successful practice for nearly 40 years. It was not at all unusual to see this humble and philanthropic doctor taking baked goods in exchange for his services -- high-quality dental care in a state-of-the-art facility -- from those who could not afford care.
In 1988, when his health declined, Dr. Sheets turned the practice over to his daughter, Cherilyn G. Sheets, DDS, who by then had gained prominence in aesthetic dentistry on her own. The family decided to place the dental facility into a charitable trust which ultimately became a comprehensive community resource for disadvantaged families without access to dental care for their children. The Children's Dental Center opened its doors in December 1995, and five years later, in an effort to expand, The Shannon Kelly Toothfairy Cottage opened as a learning center and administrative office.
Entering its thirteenth year of operation, The Children's Dental Center's philosophy remains constant: It is through behavioral change, together with dental care for urgent dental problems, that the immediate needs are addressed, while creating a future of diminished dental need and simultaneously creating greater self-esteem for children of the working poor.
Oral Health America
Oral Health America (OHA) is a fully independent non-profit organization based in Chicago, IL. This organization is fully supported by contributions from companies like Futuredontics, Inc., and other companies and individuals who also believe oral health should be recognized as one of the integral parts of lifelong health.
Founded in 1955 as the American Fund for Dental Health by members of the American Dental Association, American Dental Education Association, the American Dental Trade Association and the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, the mission of OHA was then very simple: Raise funds for the improvement of dental education.
In 1994, OHA broke from its founding institutions to follow a path of broad-based public advocacy through targeted programs and communication efforts that improve oral health for all Americans.
Today, OHA develops, implements and facilitates educational and service programs designed to raise awareness about the connection between oral health and overall health. OHA boasts many relationships and partnerships with members of the public, private and non-profit sector. These collaborators support OHA efforts as a pioneer in the creation of advocacy programs and initiatives that change the way Americans think and act in regard to unmet oral health care needs.
