The California Dental Association is the largest statewide dental association in the nation. Established in 1870, the CDA is comprised of more than 24,000 dentists, a membership that represents nearly 70 percent of California's practicing dentists. The association's membership structure includes 32 local dental societies and the American Dental Association. The CDA umbrella also covers the CDA Foundation, The Dentists Insurance Company, and TDIC Insurance Solutions.

The Council on Endorsed Programs

The CDA endorses a number of dental programs and dental services designed to meet the financial and operational needs of every dental practice. The Dentists Insurance Company

The Dentists Insurance Company is a nationwide insurance firm, dedicated exclusively to serving dental practitioners. TDIC is officially endorsed by the CDA, along with eight other state dental associations. Founded in 1980, The Dentists Insurance Company insures more than 16,000 dentists nationwide and is licensed to offer coverage in 40 states. The CDA Foundation

The CDA Foundation was established in 2001 to be the charitable arm of the California Dental Association. By providing grant opportunities to community-based organizations and individuals, and promoting disease prevention, risk assessment and treatment initiatives, the Foundation seeks to address the immediate needs of vulnerable populations who cannot benefit from dental treatment due to a lack of basic resources like dental insurance, adequate finances or access to transportation. The Foundation works with experts in the dental profession, private businesses, academic and government institutions in their efforts to increase access to dental care, promote prevention education and intervention, advance health policy research and build a sustainable oral health workforce.

The Journal of the CDA

This CDA publishes its own monthly journal, an award-winning peer-reviewed scientific publication that provides news and articles about the latest advances in dentistry, business management strategies and new dental products. It also features thought-provoking editorials, comprehensive statewide continuing education listings, California practices for sale and humor columnist, Dr. Bob - Robert E. Horseman, DDS.
