Had Gary Saint Denis not convinced him to co-found Futuredontics, Inc., in 1986, Fred Joyal would have continued his fast climb in advertising as a talented copywriter with Benton & Bowles in Los Angeles.

Fred's experience proved to be instrumental in the ascent of Futuredontics, Inc., to the top of the dental practice marketing services industry. Fred's mission in building the 1-800-DENTIST brand was to provide a consistent flow of screened patients to member dentists and, equally important, to encourage millions of consumers to visit the dentist on a regular basis.

Fred has written, produced and appeared in more than 100 of the company's television and radio commercials which air more than 5,000 times each month on major networks nationwide. These commercials showcase Fred's creative vision and spread socially responsible consumer messages about oral health. The success of 1-800-DENTIST doesn't stop with the public: The company is known for its uniquely fun working environment, incredible sense of staff loyalty and a company-wide drive to innovate.

Fred's passion for accessible dental care earned him a seat on the board of directors for The Childrens Dental Center, a non-profit oral healthcare and education center in Inglewood, CA. He is also a board member of the National Childrens Oral Health Foundation, a nationwide network of charity-based dental practices and educational facilities. In 2005, Fred was awarded the Conrad Hilton Distinguished Entrepreneur Award by Loyola Marymount University, and in 2006, he was bestowed with an honorary doctorate of arts from his alma mater, the University of Rhode Island.
